There is zero penalty to your progress when you lose a mission. Having to Alt+f4 the game to a previous save doesn't change what I do, it just makes it annoying. So being allowed to experiment, retry and save scum, should be encouraged. I'm a decent RTS player, but without knowing the techs I can't really make educated choices in the tech tree.

But 100% difficulty should mean that it's possible to do without min-maxing, even by a novice. Point and Click adventure games aren't the most enjoyable genre in RTS. I am a new player, so I picked very bad tech choices, I had to download save game from another dude, to continue. You should be able to respec the tech tree for free. You should be able to retry missions if you missed some collectibles. Saving and Loading during a mission should be possible, it's not Survival mode, this is lasts for a lot longer, so being able to save is mandatory. I was wrong, i mixed up imperial and victory points. Losing a mission shouldn't leave you literally weaker for the entire future campaign.
